Summer is the time for the sea, fruits, beaches, sundresses - and, of course, sandals. If in winter many representatives of the fair sex can still afford a not too thorough pedicure, then in summer the legs should be simply perfect. The most common problem during this period is the problem of rough skin on the heels, which, alas, cannot be hidden even with beautiful nail polish.

How to restore smoothness to your heels, and what do you need to know about the secrets of caring for them?

Causes of Rough Skin and Cracked Heels – Why Are Heels Hard?

No matter how much we dream of smooth heels, unfortunately, after a certain age, our heels suddenly lose their childish tenderness and softness.

Moreover, sometimes heels remain rough even with intensive and regular care.

What is the reason for this, and what are the real reasons for rough skin on the heels?

  • Lack of proper care.
  • Drying of the skin. The reason is not unique to the summer period: sometimes this also happens in winter when the air in the apartment is dry.
  • Wrong shoes. As you know, tight and poor-quality shoes contribute to disruption of the water-fat balance of the skin and its injury. In addition, unnatural and harmful materials for the skin can cause irritation, allergies, increased sweating and, as a result, dry skin.
  • Poor nutrition. A lack of vitamins always affects the skin with cracks, dryness, irritation and other manifestations. Rough heels are often found in girls who are constantly on diets.
  • Excessively intensive heel care. Yes, this happens! For example, in the case of too frequent and intense peeling, which requires time for skin restoration (more than once a week, this procedure is not recommended).
  • Too much hard water in the water supply.
  • Frequent hypothermia - or, on the contrary, overheating of the legs.
  • Use of low-quality cosmetics (including soaps and gels).

Possible medical reasons:

  1. Fungus. The most common cause of dry and rough skin with cracks. Unfortunately, the fungus manifests itself not only with these symptoms, and in the absence of proper treatment, the legs take on a very unsightly appearance, which is also accompanied by itching, sweating and other troubles.
  2. Diabetes mellitus type 2. In this case, it is very difficult to deal with skin problems, and you cannot do without consulting a specialist.
  3. Problems in the endocrine system. Issues of aesthetics (heels, in this case) are resolved after (or simultaneously) with treatment.
  4. Obesity. With this disease, the full blood supply to the lower extremities and their connection with the central nervous system is disrupted, the skin on the feet becomes thinner, and there is a tendency for the skin to crack.
  5. Psoriasis. With this disease, the entire immune system does not work well, and creams and hygiene alone will not get rid of rough skin on the heels - an integrated approach is needed.

It is important to understand that serious problems with the skin of the feet can be a very warning sign. Therefore, in the case when you cannot cope with cracks on your own, and the accompanying symptoms cause you inconvenience, it makes sense to consult a dermatologist and therapist.

Proper cleansing of heels at home - instructions

Taking care of your heels in a beauty salon is a pleasant experience. But not everyone has the means, time, or desire to go to salons.

And it’s much easier to take care of your heels at home. Especially if you know exactly how.

First, steam the legs in the bath.

And if you also give a foot massage before the bath, the result will be even more surprising, pleasant and long-lasting.

The massage can be replaced with regular walking on a hard massage mat or with your feet moving peas, balls, etc.

Which bath should you choose? Best recipes:

  • Dairy. We grate classic baby soap on a coarse grater, add 1 tbsp of shavings and 0.5 liters of warm milk to the basin, then hot water. Keep the legs until the water cools down.
  • Herbal. We take 1 tbsp of dry herbs: oak bark and chamomile, celandine and calendula, St. John's wort. Pour 1 liter of boiling water, leave for a day, and in the evening pour the strained broth into a bowl and dilute with boiling water.
  • Soda and soap. For 1 basin – ½ cup of soap shavings and the same amount of soda, plus boiling water. Keep the legs for about 10 minutes.
  • Citrus. 2-3 hours before the procedure, brew citrus peels in boiling water, and then simply add the broth to the water, plus 1-2 drops of orange essential oil.
  • Nettle. In a bowl of hot water - 1 liter of nettle infusion (from 2 tbsp of dry nettle).
  • Oily. Aroma bath for feet and soul. For 1 bowl – 2-3 drops of your favorite essential oil.

If you have time for daily heel care procedures, then instead of files and pumice stones, it is better to use scrubs to exfoliate rough skin. They act more gently (a thick layer of rough skin cannot be removed), but with regular use of scrubs, the dream of “baby heels” becomes a reality.

You can make scrubs at home with your own hands if you want to save on store-bought products - which, by the way, often contain.

Important! We apply the scrub only to already steamed feet, and after the massage with the scrub, we leave the mixture on the heels for 7-10 minutes - that is, we are not in a hurry to wash it off.

  1. Sugar with butter. Mix olive oil and sugar 1:2, apply to feet, massage.
  2. Coffee with sea salt. Mix 1:1 tablespoon coarse sea salt and coarsely ground coffee, add 2 tbsp kefir, apply and massage.
  3. Cocoa with sugar. For 2 tsp sugar - 1 tbsp cocoa (not nesquik, but normal confectionery cocoa powder) and milk for binding. Mix, apply, massage.
  4. Citrus with salt. For 1 tbsp of fine salt - the peel of 1 orange, ground in a blender.
  5. Salt with honey . For 2 tbsp honey – 1 tbsp sea salt.
  6. Sand with sour cream. If you live by the sea, then this option is for you. If there is no sea sand, we take regular sand. For 1 handful of sand - 2 tbsp of fat sour cream. Mix, apply, massage.

What's next?

  • If there is no scrub (or too lazy to make one) , then after the bath we use a file to remove rough skin. It is advisable to use only the fine-grained side: rough grinding of the heels contributes to the appearance of scratches, cracks - and even greater dryness. Smoothness and tenderness of the heels can only be achieved by regular procedures with a light and non-traumatic scrubbing effect.
  • The use of pumice stones is strictly not recommended. Firstly, they injure the skin of the feet, and secondly, they are a source of bacterial growth.
  • When using a file, first lubricate dry heels with cream and wait for absorption - this way the procedure will be more effective.
  • We use a slightly damp file, but not three heels under water ! We polish the heels until the rough skin is completely removed.
  • Now rinse the legs in warm water , wipe dry, generously grease with rich cream and put on cotton socks.

At least 2-3 similar procedures per week - and you will not be ashamed to wear open shoes outside.

Important:

  • If you have cracked heels they should be treated with a disinfectant immediately after the procedure, and only use a cream that contains components that promote the healing of cracks (for example, salicylic acid).
  • It is not recommended to cut rough skin and calluses! This procedure will only speed up the regeneration of injured skin, which will regain its “protective roughness” even faster. Use gentle means and methods – regularly and wisely, and the effect will pleasantly surprise you.

Pink, smooth heels are the dream of women and girls of any age, but not everyone can achieve it even with good care of the skin of their feet. Cracks that appear on the lateral surface of the feet not only spoil the appearance, but also cause a persistent feeling of discomfort due to pain when standing on the feet for a long time. The pain, although not severe, can ruin your mood.

Causes of cracks

Dry skin, decreased elasticity, increased proliferation of the superficial stratum corneum, poor regeneration of the epidermis are factors that contribute to the appearance of cracked heels.

The cause of the appearance may be a disease, and not necessarily a skin one. Very often this problem occurs in people with high blood sugar levels.

An equally common cause is endocrine disorders: anemia, hypovitaminosis. Failure of metabolic processes in the body leads to loss of elasticity of the skin and its cracking.

Lack of hygiene, the presence of microdamages on the skin is a loophole for infection. Fungus is the most common skin infection, affecting the skin of the feet, disrupting its structure and reducing its regenerative abilities.

Another skin disease, dermatitis, is included in the list of causes leading to cracking of the stratum corneum. It is dangerous primarily due to secondary infections, to which inflamed skin becomes more susceptible.

Cracks can also appear in an absolutely healthy person. They can be provoked by:

  • illiterate use of skin care products;
  • frequent use of abrasive materials to remove the stratum corneum;
  • wearing shoes made of artificial materials, tight, and the wrong size (large);
  • long walks;
  • heavy physical work performed on the feet.

How to get rid of cracks

The correct solution to the problem is to visit a doctor, undergo a full examination with all the necessary tests, and treat the body as a whole. If you are not ready to spend time visiting a clinic or simply don’t have it, you can treat cracks at home.

Reviewing your diet

A and E are vitamins for the skin. Summer is the time when fresh vegetables and fruits can fully satisfy their needs. Include vegetable salads in your diet. No need for complicated recipes.

A simple salad of tomatoes and sweet bell peppers, dressed with olive or camelina oil, sprinkled with lemon juice and sprinkled with herbs, will bring more benefits.

Omega-3 will help your skin. Be sure to use:

  • seafood:
  • nuts;
  • pumpkin seeds;
  • sesame seeds;
  • all types of unrefined vegetable oils.

Refusal of junk food. A noticeable improvement in the condition of the skin of the feet can be noticed after a short period of time after quitting smoking, fried foods, strong alcohol, canned vegetables and fruits, and fast food.

Water balance is the basis for good skin regeneration and the normal course of all metabolic processes. It is especially important to drink enough fluids (the norm is 2 liters per day) in the summer in the heat and when working in an office equipped with an air conditioning system.

Treatment options

Deep cracks that form on the heels are very painful. Let's figure out how to help ourselves. It is important to reduce pain and prevent foot infections. Infection can enter through deep cracks.

We use drugs from the pharmacy

In the treatment of deep cracks, ointments sold in pharmacies are best. Ready-made ointments are dosage forms consisting of a base (fat) and a medicinal substance.

They should be applied to cleanly washed and dry heels one to two times a day. The quantity is specified in the instructions that come with the drug. If the damage is very deep and cannot be washed well with water, it is worth treating it with hydrogen peroxide.

If the heel problem is caused by a fungus, antifungal agents are prescribed:

  • Nizoral;
  • Mycoterbin;
  • Terbizil.
We use BF-6 glue

Bonding a crack with medical glue is an original solution to the problem. This unique recipe can be used if there is no inflammation or secondary infection. Wash your feet thoroughly and dry. Apply the glue pointwise along the entire length of the damage.

When dry, it firmly sticks the edges together. After 7 days, the wounds will heal. Soften the stratum corneum with warm foot baths. Use pumice to remove it. Use pumice correctly. Steam your legs. Wipe them dry. Drive the pumice stone not across, but along the cracks.

After finishing treating the heels, be sure to rinse your feet and blot them with a napkin or towel. Squeeze a little cream onto damaged skin and rub in lightly. If you are not lazy and perform these simple procedures for several days, the skin on your heels will become smooth again.

Vitamins for smooth heel skin

What vitamins does the body lack to make the heels soft, like a child’s? First of all, vitamin A.

Eat cabbage, citrus fruits, liver, butter, carrots, spinach, green onions, then your body will not suffer from a lack of vitamins.

Once a 60-year-old village woman boasted to me of her pink heels. To say that I was surprised is not the right word! I knew that she also works in the garden, and that they do not have a bathroom or other urban conditions. It turns out that her doctor recommended (I don’t remember for what reason) to take liquid vitamin A - put a drop on a piece of refined sugar and eat it once a day. And this is the side result with the heels!

So don't neglect vitamin A!

In parting, I want to say: there is no problem that you and I cannot solve. Send your wishes to my blog, subscribe, send reviews, comments, recommend to your friends and acquaintances.

Hello dear readers. Cracked heels are not only unsightly, but also painful. The problem can overtake us regardless of gender and age. It becomes especially widespread in the spring and summer, when most people wear flip-flops and potter around the countryside. It is almost impossible to get rid of cracks instantly and often they become chronic, painful and can even bleed. Folk remedies for combating this disease are practically passed down from generation to generation. Today we will look at one of the means for the successful treatment of this skin disease - ointment.

In the summer we all want to make our own since we wear open shoes. But the most important thing is to know the reasons why cracked heels occur in order to prevent their further occurrence.

Cracked heels - what are the reasons?

The causes of this disease can be associated both with external factors and with more serious problems of the body.

External factors include:

  • Walking on the ground or sand for a long time without shoes.
  • Dry air.
  • Tight shoes.
  • Wearing synthetics.
  • Tight shoes.
  • Lack of regular hygiene care or improper care.
  • Reaction to hygiene products.
  • High load during the day, work on your feet.
  • Too intensive peeling care.

All factors are determined by the peculiarities of the skin of the heels. This part of the koi bears a large load from our weight. Therefore, the cells quickly become deformed and die.

This leads to peeling and dryness, and in the future can cause cracks. Therefore, the main part of the fight against cracks in this case is softening the skin, removing dead cells; hydration.

The second aspect is the lack of vitamins. Then the treatment must include taking a vitamin complex.

Internal diseases

The third aspect is serious illness.

  • Skin diseases.
  • Diabetes mellitus and other diseases associated with metabolic disorders.
  • Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Anemia.

Before you begin treating cracks, you should consult a doctor. If you have a more serious disease, then you need to treat not only the cracks, but also the root cause of the disease.

Ointment for cracked heels - how to use

The modern cosmetology industry provides a lot of products for the treatment of cracks. But we will consider budgetary and affordable, and most importantly, time-tested means.

Zinc ointment

This remedy is intended to relieve inflammation and treat fungus. It eliminates dryness and flaking of the skin. It also has antiseptic properties and perfectly fights unpleasant odors.

The ointment should be rubbed in morning and evening using massaging movements. It should be absorbed, so do not apply a thick layer. Feet should be dry and clean. It is better to apply the ointment after a previous foot bath.

Salicylic ointment

It has a wider range of applications than zinc. This remedy is used to treat psoriasis, comedones, burns, eczema and fungi. The ointment is an excellent antiseptic.

Therefore, it forms the basis of a healing remedy for healing heel cracks. The recipe is quite simple. Mix salicylic acid, paraffin and beeswax. Proportions 1/1/1.

Melt the mixture. When the mixture becomes warm, apply it to the cracks using a cotton swab. Let it dry completely. Repeat the procedure about 4-5 times. Then apply a bandage. After a few hours, remove the bandage and wash your leg in water with soap and soda. Dry your feet. Apply rich cream.

Cream Zorka

Another not very pharmaceutical, but very popular remedy is Zorka cream. The composition itself is designed to care for the cow's udder. It heals cracks, softens the skin, and eliminates dryness. It is also suitable for heels.

Before the procedure, steam your feet, but not in hot water, but in warm water. Dry with a towel. Apply the cream to your feet. Leave for a couple of tens of minutes to absorb. At this time, it is better to refrain from walking.

Then put on cotton socks. So go to bed. In the morning, your feet can be steamed again and treated with pumice. But remember, the cream has a rather pungent odor.

Balsamed

The product contains lactic acid, which softens the skin, as well as a mixture of oils that moisturize and nourish. But the product should not be used if the skin is injured to the point of an open wound.

Doctor Biocon

The product includes a mixture of oils that promote healing of the skin of the feet.

Radevit

This is an excellent solution if the cracks were caused precisely by a vitamin deficiency. The ointment is widely used to treat skin diseases and contains a large amount of nutrients that promote skin healing.

Doctor

This is a cream that is designed to remove dead skin cells of the epidermis. It contains urea and components that enhance its effect. The cream will relieve the unpleasant sensation of itching. Then dry your feet with a towel and apply cream. To get the best effect, wrap your feet in cling film and secure them on top with socks. Leave it on all night. In the morning, wash your feet and you can clean them with a pumice stone.

Gewol

This cream is significantly different from the above products. Its action is aimed specifically at normalizing the natural protective border of the skin.

Violation of this balance leads to dryness and cracks. Skin elasticity increases. The cream is applied to steamed legs once a day.

Zazhivin 911

The gel not only disinfects the affected area, but also promotes its regeneration. Has proven itself well for the treatment of abrasions. The gel contains natural oils. Apply the gel to dry and clean feet. Leave for a couple of tens of minutes for the gel to be absorbed. Afterwards you should put on cotton socks.

Fulex

Fulex is a cream with a broader action. It is used to care for feet, combat excessive sweating, and treat corns and cracks. The drug cannot boast of a budget price, but it has a rich natural composition. The cream should be applied twice a day.

Flexitol balm

Suitable for very dry and cracked skin of the feet and heels, suitable for rough heels. It contains 25% urea, vitamin E and Shea butter, and does not contain parabens. Made in Great Britain.

Choose a cream or ointment to treat heels, the main thing is that the product suits you in price and properties. By the way, when combined together, they have a healing effect.

In just a couple of weeks, it will help solve the problem of cracks, and the treatment result will last about the same time, but it is better to use it for preventive purposes.

Important to remember! All creams and ointments that contain acid help soften the skin. But, too frequent use of such an ointment or peeling,

may cause harm and make the situation worse. Therefore, spend more time nourishing your skin rather than cleansing it.

Cracked heels usually appear in the summer. This pathological phenomenon causes physical and psychological discomfort and requires immediate treatment. To eliminate cracks, creams and ointments are used, as well as folk remedies: baths and compresses. To determine which of them will be most effective in a particular case, it is necessary to find out the cause of the pathology, and only then determine a treatment regimen.

Causes of cracks

The main reason for the appearance of cracks in the heels is dryness and keratinization of the skin, loss of elasticity and strength. External factors can provoke the disease:

  • frequent bathing in chlorinated water;
  • dry air;
  • changes in air temperature;
  • exposure to wind and direct sunlight;
  • walking barefoot on hot sand, pebbles or asphalt;
  • incorrectly selected, uncomfortable (usually tight) shoes;
  • insufficient or excessive hygiene;
  • intensive peeling;
  • use of highly concentrated detergents, alkalis, fabric softeners;
  • work on the feet.

However, the cause of cracking skin on the feet may be hidden inside the body. If the skin is dry not only on the heels, but also on other parts of the body, it means that there are disturbances in the functioning of internal organs and systems:

  • improper metabolism;
  • thyroid dysfunction;
  • vitamin deficiency or hypovitaminosis – lack of vitamins A, C, E;
  • diabetes;
  • the presence of helminths in the body;
  • skin pathologies – psoriasis, ichthyosis, dermatitis, fungus;
  • chronic infections such as tuberculosis;
  • hormonal imbalances during pregnancy or menopause;
  • smoking and alcohol abuse.

To get rid of painful cracked heels, you need to find out the root cause and direct all efforts to eliminate it. With this approach, the skin will quickly return to normal, and pharmacy and folk remedies will help it with this.
