Step by step guide:

First of all, you should make a paper template for future letters - draw and cut out letters of the desired size and shape from paper. After this, you need to transfer the contours of each letter onto the foam - circle the template with a marker. Using a sharp paper knife, cut the foam along the contours. To prevent the foam from crumbling, movements should be made quickly and confidently.

When all the letters are cut out, we clean the edges with sandpaper, achieving smoothness.

Since polystyrene foam is porous, it is difficult to paint or decorate. Additional rigidity can be achieved by using the papier-mâché technique. We tear newspaper or thin paper into small pieces. We dip each piece in a solution of PVA glue (2 parts) with water (1 part), and then place it on the foam letter. In a deep container, mix 100 g of PVA glue, 100 g of corn starch, 50 g of warm water. Stir until a homogeneous mass is obtained.

Now all that remains is to soak the jute twine well, lay out the words from it and let the composition dry (at least 12 hours).

DIY inscription design for a photo shoot

To create an inscription for a photo shoot you will need:

Printed desired word

A4 sheet of 3mm polystyrene foam (or anything suitable)

Glitter spray

Knife with a very sharp blade

Hanger and thin ribbon in matching color

Shelves for cocktails or toothpicks

Inscription for a photo shoot step by step:

Start by creating your word. It can be either drawn by hand or created on a computer where you can use your favorite font. Type the word and enlarge it so that it fits snugly on the edges of the A4 page. Make sure your word is thick enough, otherwise it may end up being extremely fragile. Then print it out. When you have the finished word on the page, turn it over and spray glue on the back side. It is advisable to use such glue that the paper can be easily removed after finishing the work.

Next, using a paper cutting knife, begin to carefully cut the word along the contour, as shown in Figure 3-4. Be careful with sharp corners and rounded areas. Cut all the way until you see a slit on the back of the foam sheet.

Then carefully press out the letters one by one. If there are still uncut areas, use the same knife.

Now that the letters are cut out, clean them thoroughly around the edges. Rough edges won't matter much as the entire lettering will be filled with glitter. If necessary, join your words together using a cocktail stick through the foam edges, as in Figure 6.

Finally, cover the word with glitter. Leave overnight until completely dry. After which you can attach the inscription to a hanger or use it for other purposes. For example, such an inscription can also be used for a photo shoot or decorating the center of a table.

DIY garland “JUST MARRIED”

To create the “JUST MARRIED” garland you will need:

Light plain fabric for the background of the flag

Bright fabric in a matching color for the letters

Glue web (can be purchased at a fabric store)

Printer for printing letters

Sewing machine (you can stitch the letters by hand, but it’s more convenient)

Iron, scissors

Garland “JUST MARRIED” step by step:

1. Print out the “JUST MARRIED” letter templates or draw them yourself.

2. The template needs to be pressed against a bright fabric and the letters cut out; additionally, cut out a small heart that can be placed on the flag between the words just and married.

3. The fabric for the background needs to be cut into triangles or rectangles in the amount of 12 pieces - for each letter separately and for the space between words, one flag with a heart.

4. Attach the finished letters to the flags, place small pieces of cobweb under them. Iron for a couple of minutes using the iron on the “no steam” setting.

If you need to attach a garland to a wedding car, then you need to leave 1.5-2 m ropes on each edge.
