DIY doll toys made of fabric. What kinds of fabric dolls are there and how to sew them. Master class from Polina Inyakina

Today you can buy whatever your child wants in stores. Starting from rattles and ending with electronic gadgets. But for some reason, children are always drawn to dolls or animals made with their own hands from knitwear or fur. What attracts them so much to them? You can sew such a doll yourself, at home, with your child.

How to sew a doll yourself?

Modern needlewomen have the opportunity and special material for making dolls. This includes special knitwear, fillers, accessories for eyes, eyelashes, hair made from yarn and thread, and ready-made wigs. Shops for handicrafts provide everything necessary for creativity. That's why many people try to sew on their own. Making such a doll with your own hands (patterns for some are available in this article) is a most interesting activity that often becomes an exciting hobby.

You can do sewing without going to the store:

  • just choose a knitted T-shirt flesh-colored;
  • a little padding polyester;
  • a couple of beads;
  • threads and needles for sewing;
  • hair yarn;
  • pattern.

Simple doll

A primitive rag doll-amulet was sewn by our grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Children love them for the warmth and comfort that these toys give them. Not a single factory doll, even a very beautiful one, will become a toy with which a child will sleep for a long time. Children are guided by sensations: in a dream they touch a doll, but it is plastic and cold. An association arises not with a doll, but with a car or a bucket. And this is wrong. Therefore, the doll should be warm, soft and cozy.

Without thinking twice, you can make a sewing pattern yourself. While the child is sleeping, the outline of the torso, head, arms, legs is quickly drawn. Everything is transferred to knitted fabric. Be sure to leave a seam allowance of 5 mm. All this is stuffed with padding polyester - the product is 80% ready. You should think about who it will be: a girl or a boy?

Clothes, hair length, and the expression on the face depend on this. Having decided, you should mark the eyes, mouth, and nose on the face. The simplest thing is to embroider everything. You can use beads or buttons to decorate the eyes. But if the child is very small, then there is a danger that he may tear off or bite off and swallow the bead. That's why everything is embroidered. Hair is made from yarn: it is wound onto a cardboard of the required length of thread, and stitched in the middle with a “forward needle” seam. On the reverse side, cut and the wig is ready. It should be sewn on, trimmed and braided with ribbons. Having figured out how to sew a doll, you need to think about clothes for it.

Clothes for dolls

If a woman knows how to knit a little, then this is the best option for making clothes for dolls. Knitters always have a lot of balls of multi-colored yarn left - it's time to put them to use. You can make a blouse and a skirt. Or a jumpsuit and booties made from leftover yarn. A dress made from a piece of chintz will also look beautiful. The cut can be made simple, one-piece. Decorate with lace, braid, ribbons.

You should attach great importance to the color scheme and select fabrics of the same texture. It is desirable that the clothes can be taken off and put on. This develops the child’s skill and desire to dress properly himself.

Patterns of other types of dolls

All fabric doll patterns should be transferred to material that can be used more than once. Film or transparent tracing paper is suitable for this. Thus, the pattern for sewing a Waldorf doll should also be transferred. This type of toy appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century. In Germany, the first schools were organized in which teaching was conducted according to a special program. The toys were made with their own hands from natural materials: wood, cotton fabrics, pure camel or sheep wool.

It is the making of rag dolls according to the Waldorf model that has gained wide popularity in the world. This is an ordinary fabric toy, which is made according to a pattern, but only from special knitwear. The peculiarity is in the manufacture of the head.

Head decoration

For these dolls, take a small ball of thread with a diameter of 5-6 cm. Strips of natural wool are folded into rays, in the middle of which the ball is inserted. This creates a ball onto which an elastic bandage or knitted sock is pulled.

It is pulled together at the base with strong threads to form a head. It is pulled with threads vertically and horizontally in such a way that it is given a shape similar to a child’s head. A place for the nose is selected and a small bead or ball rolled from wool is secured. And only now the outer doll jersey is pulled on. The eyes are already marked on it and the mouth is embroidered.

A Waldorf rag doll does not take long to sew: the most time is spent making the head, and most importantly, the hair from threads. To do this, take a skein of yarn and crochet a small hat. It should fit snugly to the head and match the hairline. Then it is sewn around the perimeter to the head and pre-cut identical pieces of yarn are already tied to it. This process is long, but the hairstyle turns out great.

Another way is to embroider the entire surface of the head with satin stitch. And then sew threads of the same length. This method of styling your hair allows you to comb your hair, braid it or make ponytails.

Assembly of the body

The head should have a certain shape. The arms are sewn to the bottom of it and secured well. The fabric doll pattern has a lower part that looks like a jumpsuit. The legs and body are stuffed with wool and sewn on around the neck and arms. The lack of wool is supplemented through the side openings - sleeves, and then sewn up. Fingers are sewn on the legs and arms. But if you don’t do this, it won’t get any worse: both options are acceptable.

Now you can start sewing clothes and decorating the face. Clothes can be knitted as in the previous version. The Waldorf doll is very soft, without a rigid frame and absolutely not dangerous for the child.

Tilda dolls

Many needlewomen who start with large dolls gradually move on to more delicate work: they try to sew Tilda dolls. Patterns for them can always be found in specialized literature. This toy was created by Norwegian artist Toni Finanger. She invented and brought into life cats, bears, bunnies: they are all made in the same style. But not every pattern produces what is intended. How to sew a doll that has such thin arms and legs? Yes, it's not that simple.

But the difficulty lies not in sewing, but in stuffing it. Such narrow parts do not pack wool well - it lies unevenly. “Cellulite” appears on the arms and legs: lumps of six are visible on the surface.

But first you need to cut out all the details and stitch them. Then, using a pencil, gradually fill them in. You should not take too large balls of wool so that the surface of the knitwear is smooth. All details are collected. A wig is being made for Tilda. For such a doll, made by yourself, the hair can be made from yarn or wool. The threads are wound onto cardboard of the required width. On one side they are stitched, and on the other they are cut and sewn to the head.

Doll face

In the classic version, the Tilda doll has no nose, no mouth, no ears. They sew beads on her eyes, give her blush, and that’s it. A hairstyle is a special part, a detail. Her hair must be simply “gorgeous.” You can, of course, embroider eyebrows and mouth. But you don’t have to do this. This is the beauty of the Tilda doll.

And they make a variety of clothes for them. You can make any clothing patterns for a doll with your own hands, it’s not at all difficult. Beautiful dresses, dressing gowns, pajamas, hats and even shoes - all the needlewomen make themselves. It is very easy to dress a ballerina doll.

Tilda - ballerina

The ballerina dress consists of only two parts - a skirt and a gathered ruffle ribbon for the top. From a thin fabric, nylon, for example, a ribbon is cut, 40 cm long and 10 cm wide. It is stitched and gathered onto a thread along the wide edge. The assembled part is sewn to the body like a skirt. Another piece of tape, 2 cm wide, is gathered onto a thread along the entire length, in the middle. Draped and sewn from shoulder to shoulder. This design makes the doll airy, light and like a ballerina. Accuracy in manufacturing plays a special role: there should be no threads hanging anywhere, the edge is beautifully processed.

In fact, having learned how to sew a doll, everyone understands that it is not too difficult to do. And with a certain skill, it’s quite simple. And you can engage in such a hobby with your children. Such communication brings parents and children closer together, promotes mutual understanding, and develops fine motor skills and fantasy. Many people sew distinctive dolls (even pregnant or very fat ones). The way people can be in life. Together they come up with outfits for them, sew them and dress them.

Dolls made on their own delight and awe those who come to visit. Sometimes you want to pamper your child and make a toy with my own hands. At the same time, needlewomen who are thinking about this type of creativity for the first time will find photo instructions on how to make a doll useful. It will be presented below along with detailed descriptions.

Materials for making dolls

There are many options for dolls and they are all made from different materials:

  • Yarn or natural threads are useful for making a motanka doll. It is considered a talisman and carries a positive charge.
  • Tilde dolls are made from fabric. Moreover, they are easy to implement.
  • The priests are made from nylon tights and padding polyester. They look very cute and funny.
  • Porcelain dolls are made from porcelain or polymer clay. Quite expensive to produce, so they are sold more often.
  • You can use store-bought Barbie dolls to make heroines from the Monster High series.

There are techniques that show how to make a doll for a child from available materials, including paper.

Motanka doll

The first dolls made of threads served as a talisman. They were made by the child’s relatives and given as gifts for birth. They were not given human facial features, eyes and mouth were not drawn. It was believed that it was through the face that both the soul and dark demons entered, so people made a cross instead.

They were created exclusively by women from natural materials, straw, grass, flowers, corn cobs, etc. The technique does not involve the use of a needle.

To make a health doll you must have:

  • linen threads;
  • red yarn;
  • cardboard;
  • scissors.

Sequence of work

To make a reel of health there is step by step instructions how to make a doll:

  • First of all, linen thread is wound in three rows on a rectangular sheet of cardboard. One of them will serve as the body (make it thicker), the others will be used as arms and a braid.
  • Breaks in the threads are not allowed.
  • Next, you need to cut the winding on one side;
  • A knot is tied at the end of the bun intended for the braid;
  • The braid, that is, the future hands, is braided from the second bun;
  • The head is separated with a red thread (1 m long) and loose threads are inserted into the resulting loop and a knot is made, and then a braid is braided on the head
  • The hand blank is placed between the threads and secured by crossing a colored thread;
  • They tie it around the waist and finish the amulet with a knot, the ends of which resemble a belt.

It is not customary to decorate such a doll as a talisman or sew additional clothes. It is given to a sick person and, according to legend, the illness should go to the toy. It was subsequently burned.

Pop doll

For production you will need:

  • flesh-colored nylon tights or stockings;
  • filler (sintepon);
  • threads and needles;
  • scissors;
  • hair yarn;
  • a piece of fabric (thick) for a dress;
  • plastic eyes;
  • ribbon, lace;
  • decorations (at your discretion).

One part is cut off from the tights. Filler will be placed in it in the future. First of all, all the necessary parts are made.

Doll head

How to make a doll's head? A ball with a diameter of 10-15 cm and 4 smaller circles are formed from padding polyester. Two will be used for shaping the cheeks, one for the nose and lips.

First, the head blank is wrapped in nylon and only then the nose ball is placed in its place, slightly to the side of the cheek and at the bottom of the lip. The workpiece is fixed at the back by wrapping the thread around the tights.

Afterwards, using a thread threaded through a needle, the formation of the nose begins. To do this, the length of the bridge of the nose is sewn with stitches. Then the nostrils are formed diagonally. That is, from the extreme point of the bridge of the nose, a thread is threaded in the intended place and tightened. Repeat the procedure for the second side.

Next come the cheeks. They begin to be formed starting from the cheekbones, making stitches either from above the cheek or from below. Finish the work at the nose.

The lips are made using reverse stitches (along the midline of the lips). From the outermost point of the cheek to the other depression. Remember that the thread must be tightened during operation. The head preparation is completed.

Legs and arms

For the feet, balls with a diameter of 4-6 cm are also rolled. The formation of the foot begins with the big toe. The needle is threaded at a distance of 1 cm from the edge and, wrapping the thread around the workpiece, it is injected into the same place.

Then tighten and repeat the previous procedure to secure it. Make an indentation of a centimeter, and again make a finger.

The little toe is formed by piercing the side of the foot with a needle. For the heel, tighten slightly below the center of the workpiece. The handles are formed according to the same principle, only the balls are made half the size.

Preparation of the ass

For it, take a ball of filler with a diameter of 8-9 cm, tighten it into a nylon and pull it in half with a thread. Panties are cut out of the fabric and glued to the workpiece. I use lace to make a beautiful frame with linen.

Assembly of parts and final design

A circle is cut out of a piece of fabric, the diameter of which is twice the size of the head. And also, four rectangles 10 cm long and 3 cm wide and rounded on one side. This is the future arm length.

Fabric blanks are stitched, leaving space for stuffing with filler (from the side of the smooth edge). Turn it inside out, fill it with padding polyester, coat it with glue and attach the palms.

Eyes and hair made from yarn and tied into ponytails are attached to the head. The blank itself is glued to the skirt just below the center, and a 40 cm long ribbon is glued between them. The arms are attached just below the head. The butt and legs are glued on the reverse side.

At the final stage, you can decorate the skirt with flowers cut from lace and paint the doll’s lips and cheeks.

Using a similar technique, using the same materials, ordinary dolls are made with and without a frame.

Tilda doll

What can you make a doll from at home? The household always has scraps of fabric, and this material allows you to make a unique toy with your own hands.

Following the instructions in the photo, you need to make patterns for the head and torso, arms and legs. All parts are stitched along the contour with a machine, leaving a hole for filling. Stuffed with holofiber and sewn together. Eyes are sewn to the face and blush is applied. Felting wool can be used as hair. All that remains is to dress the doll.

Clothes for dolls

An important attribute of dolls is clothing, household items, and furniture. How to make dresses and things for dolls? The easiest way is to find a pattern that suits your needs and reduce it to doll size.

Furniture for games can be made from cardboard covered with fabric. All structures should be secured with glue.

You can always get original ideas on how to make a doll from craftswomen who already have experience working with the chosen material. Don't set a goal to make an exact copy, add your own elements and experiment. Good luck in your endeavors!

Photos of homemade dolls

Dolls are not at all like ordinary toys, especially when it comes to designer dolls self made. They don’t just look like they’re alive, because any master who creates these little masterpieces with his own hands puts a whole world into each doll: he invents and thinks through to the smallest detail its future image, endows the creation with a name, character, destiny and its own history. That is why all dolls are so original and unique.

If you want to become a part of the world of doll creators, try to learn from already recognized and venerable masters. Thanks to their tips, photo tutorials and master classes, you too can make a beautiful doll with your own hands. The main thing is to just want it and start inventing her image...

The doll is like a mirror of the soul of its author

Any creation begins with a plan, with a spark of an idea. Not all master classes can show this, but often masters draw sketches of the future doll so as not to miss or forget anything. Depending on what image is planned, the material is selected. However, sometimes a master can only work with one material, always trying to improve and achieve the ideal in his creations.

Designer dolls are created using a variety of techniques: they can be made of plastic, papier-mâché, sculpted from polymer clay or porcelain, sewn from fabric, have a soft body or a wire frame, etc. Today we will talk about frame dolls for making which use such material as paper glue.

Translated, its name means “paper clay.” This material is a pliable mass created on a cellulose basis (it is worth distinguishing between a polymer-based and a clay-based material). You can sculpt and model anything from it. Paper glue has many advantages over other plastics:

  • it is lightweight and is not susceptible to dust sticking during the modeling process, like baked plastic;
  • you can easily sand the product so that sandpaper will not leave scratches on it, and you can get rid of small flaws with a simple putty;
  • paperclay is like a canvas, which you can paint in any desired color, based on the range of the doll’s costume and her image; it is also worth noting that paperclay can be easily painted with acrylic paints (their advantage over oil is that they dry faster).

True, this material is quite fragile, but this small drawback can be overcome by following some secrets of master puppeteers.

For inspiration and search for possible images, look at the works of famous authors who have been creating dolls for a long time: Alisa Bazhenkova, Galina Shitova, Lyubov Lukyanchuk, Victoria Minenko, Yulia Nazarenko, Oksana Dyachenko and many others. Their dolls can be found in various famous art galleries, they are also often exhibited at thematic exhibitions and are purchased by avid collectors for private collections.

Of course, such designer dolls cost quite a lot, for example, the simplest copies can be bought from 10,000-12,000 rubles, and if you want to get a custom doll in the outfit of some historical era, completely made by hand using various techniques, with expensive fabrics or accessories, then its cost can start from $100 and above.

From theory to practice, from idea to creation

Don’t be discouraged and afraid that you will succeed like the masters, because they too once started small. Be prepared for some not-so-successful specimens at first, but believe me that after numerous practical sessions you will definitely be able to make the doll of your dreams with your own hands.

Frame paperclay dolls are presented in collections in the most unexpected images: gentle angels, mysterious fairies, nymphs, elves, fatal beauties and prim ladies, sophisticated dancers and graceful cocottes, harlequins, hat makers, sweet and naive children, etc. However, the manufacturing process , as a rule, will be the same.

  1. After creating a sketch of the future doll and preparing all the necessary materials, you can get to work. Your initial task will be to make a frame and stand on which the doll can sit, stand, or take the pose that you have in mind.
  2. You can make your own frame from wire. It is better to use thin steel or copper wire (copper is suitable with a cross-section of 2.5-3.5). The wire frame is a very important point for a wire-frame doll, because if you make it weak, the doll will fall over and will not be able to stand on its feet. It is also worthwhile to carefully approach the anatomical features and proportionality of the body parts of your creation, so that you can then sculpt them correctly.
  3. So, according to the proportions, we turn the skeleton out of wire. Prepare yourself several pieces of different lengths so that you don’t have to stop while working. You can take two approximately identical wires and bend them in half - this way you will get two segments that will have four tails at the bottom and a bend at the top. Form a neck and bend the tails perpendicular to it to create shoulders. Then twist all the tails below - you will get a waist. Spread them at the bottom of the waist shoulder width apart and form a pelvis.
  4. Next you will need new pieces of wire to make the legs and arms. Bend one piece and tape it in the pelvic area to the already created frame (you can use a heat gun, medical plaster, electrical tape or the same wire for attachment). To make the handles come out, take another piece, place it in the shoulder area and bend it on both sides. Attach these handles to the overall frame.
  5. Additionally, you can twist other parts of the body from wire, such as a breast or butt for a doll. This is not necessary, but they will make it easier for you to wrap the frame later.
  6. There will be five wires in the legs. Wrap them in a spiral with wire of a smaller cross-section so as not to twist each other. If the doll's arms or legs are longer than you wanted, you can cut off the excess.
  7. Check body symmetry. Next, work begins on its formation. Some craftsmen use cotton threads impregnated with glue for this, others prefer batting or padding polyester for volume; you can also take foil, toilet paper, and for the final winding - floral tape or a medical bandage with PVA primer. We extend the body and cover it with knitwear. At this stage, it is worth deciding on the pose of your doll, since once the “carcass” dries and hardens, it is unlikely that you will be able to change it.
  8. We move on to sculpting the head and hands, as well as modeling the face. For this we need such a wonderful material - paper glue, which is called self-hardening plastic. However, it doesn't look much like plastic. You can sculpt, building up any number of layers until you achieve ideal facial features. If you dilute it with water (to make a paste), you can smooth out unevenness or smooth out a sharp corner. When you're done with the sculpting so that the head, face, and hands look the way they should, you'll need to sand the surface again using zero sandpaper (you can also use a nail sander at the end).
  9. Paint all exposed parts of the body with acrylic paint (very carefully, making sure there are no drips). Then paint the doll’s face, apply the desired makeup, make eyes (you can use store-bought ones, outline a bead, make them from Fimo, etc.), lips, cheeks. You can add glitter at the end and apply matte acrylic varnish as the last layer - this will protect the doll from dust and moisture.
  10. You make eyelashes and hair at your own discretion - you can use thread wigs, dreadlocks, fur, special elements for dolls or real natural wigs.
  11. Clothes can be sewn directly on the doll, then they cannot be removed. If you want to make her a wardrobe, then you need to create outfits separately. Don't forget about shoes, hats, jewelry and other accessories your doll needs.

It is not uncommon for the desire to make a doll to be inhibited at the very first difficulties. Because creating this kind of small masterpiece is a long, expensive and scrupulous process, in which it is certainly necessary to get better at it. However, there are techniques for creating a doll specifically for beginners and there are a huge number of them - from the simplest to the more complex.

As you have seen, making a doll with your own hands is very simple, even for those who do not have any skills for this.

Homemade textile dolls are an ancient type of handicraft inspired by new life craftsmen from all over the world. Today they are bright, stylish, and not boring. In this collection you will find an idea to suit your taste and learn how to sew a fabric doll with your own hands.

As a rule, these toys are not for small children, but for fully grown girls. At least based on the fact that fragile dolls can tear or become dirty during active handling, and it is not recommended to wash them. After all, textile toys are often tinted, scented, and the face is covered with acrylic paints. They are also decorated with numerous accessories in the form of tiny flowers, buttons, brooches and other beautiful little things.

A textile doll will be an excellent gift or a unique decoration for any interior. But you can also sew play dolls for children. Let's see what textile dolls exist today.

This simple model does not require any sewing; it can be twisted from multi-colored scraps in just a couple of minutes. If desired, you can sew an elegant sundress for the Russian beauty, and a caftan and boots for the gentleman.

The most ancient in Slavic and Russian culture are. They were assistants in a variety of affairs of ancient housewives. A cabbage placed on the window indicated that the girl was ready for marriage, and the woman in labor helped in childbirth. The well-being of the whole family depended on the special mood of the needlewoman while making such a rag doll with her own hands. The head of the amulet dolls has no eyes, mouth or nose. Ideally, they are performed without scissors; the fabric is simply torn by hand.

Attic (primitive dolls)

Such primitive dolls are distinguished by some age and carelessness, as if they had been lying around in the attic for many years. very simple due to fairly simple forms. When sewing, the sections are not processed; the toy is given a very shabby look due to tinting. At first glance, it seems that the doll is made from materials that first came to hand. However, this is not the case. Every detail of the toy, with its deliberate shabbyness, is carefully thought out and carefully executed.

Their appearance varies, from button or patchwork eyes and asymmetrical figures to realistically painted acrylic faces and graceful body shapes. This diversity occurs because the designer doll thrives in this environment.

Tilda doll

A special case of a primitive doll. Poorly detailed face, but very expressive hair and figure. The Internet is replete with examples of how to sew a doll. This is a textile Barbie, she has a lot of roles and themed clothes. From flower girl to princess. Sewing it will bring you a lot of pleasure. For beginners, it is best to start with these dolls.

Waldorf doll

The peculiarity of this doll is that its body has the correct proportions characteristic of an adult or a child, depending on the model. The limbs move at the base. You can't call this little girl skinny.

If you follow the technology for sewing such a toy, you will get a fairly realistic figurine. Inside the head there is a tightly stuffed ball, tied with wire or thread according to a certain pattern, which allows you to give the face relief; in place of the nose there is a bead. A flesh-colored knitted fabric is stretched over the top. Very convenient for gaming purposes.

Pumpkinhead

The main difference between this toy is the head, which consists of five wedges, which is very similar to a small pumpkin. The junction of the wedges is slightly extended forward and forms a neat nose. Wide scope for the master’s imagination is represented by the doll’s face, on which eyes and mouth are painted with acrylic paints. Numerous designer textile dolls are created on this basis. Below we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the master class.

Snowball

Pattern:

We transfer it to flesh-colored fabric, the head is slanted. We sew the parts together before cutting them out. When sewing a head, it is important to sew precisely along the contour. For each piece, leave an unsewn hole for stuffing.

We cut out the parts with zig-zag scissors at a distance of 3-4 mm from the stitching. Next, turn the parts inside out and fill them with filler.

When stuffing the body, first take a little stuffing and stuff the neck tightly, and then insert a wooden roll stick, which is slightly less than the length of the whole body, and continue stuffing the whole body. Secure the filler with pins. The pumpkinhead has a heavy head and if this is not done, the neck will not withstand the load.

We stuff the legs tightly up to the knee joint. Then we use threads to make a joint and small stitches around the leg, and tighten the thread. There is no need to stuff the upper part of the leg tightly. Similarly, we form the handles with the elbow joint.

We sew the legs into the body with a hidden seam. We sew up the arms and attach them to the body symmetrically.

We draw a face with a pencil and paint it with acrylic paints.

We sew pants according to the pattern:

Now we sew the skirt:

Sew the skirt to the doll figurine. We cut out rectangles for the sleeves, sew them together, and attach them to the doll:

We form a “flashlight” at the bottom of the sleeve:

We tighten the sleeve at the top and fasten it:

We decorate the dress with braid and beads.

Now we sew the head to the neck with a hidden seam:

Before sewing the doll itself, I prepared the curls for the hairstyle. Using a wide brush, I wet thin strands of wool for felting with a special solution (2/3 cup water, 5 tablespoons liquid soap and 5 tablespoons of PVA glue) and tightly wrapped on wooden round sticks. And then left it to dry for 1-2 days until completely dry.

Let's do our Aprilka-Droplet's hair. Take a strand of wool about 5-6 cm, cover the face and distribute it evenly along the front seam line. And then we begin to roll the wool along the front seam line, forming the outline of the hairstyle.

At the same time we make several small curls for the bangs. We throw our hair back and roll it again. We do this so that the head tissue does not show through the hair. We begin to roll up curls of hair, starting from the back of the head from the bottom and gradually moving row by row to the top of the head.

When all the curls are ready, we braid the hair and roll it along the upper edge of the curl.

Hairstyle is ready:

We paint shoes with acrylic paint:

Finished pumpkin head doll:

You can sew a doll in one evening from materials that you already have at home, purchasing only flannel and stuffing. Hair can be made from yarn
