Sewing a ladybug costume

1. For a fluffy skirt, similar to a tutu, from thin organza, cut strips 5 - 7 cm wide to the required length. It is better to use scissors with a processing effect so that the edges of the parts do not crumble later.
2. We hem the strips at the top and, using a pin, string the rectangular parts onto an elastic band, the size of which is equal to the waist circumference with an increase of 2 cm for hemming. The skirt should have a fluffy gather, like a ballerina’s tutu.
3. To make a top pattern for a ladybug costume, you need to take measurements: chest circumference and length from the collarbone to the waist, build a rectangle on their base with a width equal to the chest circumference and a length corresponding to the measurement. We baste the side part, sew it on a sewing machine, and baste it to the skirt.
4. Attach the bodice to the waistband of the skirt to make a dress. We emphasize the junction with a cut-off interlaced belt.
5. For the wings, we roll up a wire frame, cover them with scarlet organza, carefully sewing them to the frame. Characteristic spots on the wings of an insect can be cut out of paper and glued. But it will be much more convenient to paint dark circles with acrylic paint using a brush directly on the fabric.

6. Flowers for the ladybug can be purchased at the store. But, if mom can find time to make a flower bouquet, then she will make a chic bouquet with her own hands from silk scraps, thin wire and a black cord covering the place where the wire stem joins the flower.

3. We insert the parts one into the other, alternating red and black colors. We connect along the top side with a stitch.

4.Take a wide elastic band (knitted strip folded in half) and sew it to the upper edge of the petticoat as a belt.

2. Connect along the short side.

3. Hem or overcast the bottom and top sections of the skirt.

The easiest option

If a suit is needed for a girl, then a dark skirt should be used, if for a boy, then trousers. On top you can wear a dark turtleneck or shirt. To sew a ladybug costume, you will need a meter of red mesh fabric (the width of the piece is one and a half meters), two meters of rigid wire, a piece of red and black thread, electrical tape, a satin ribbon (red, black) half a centimeter wide, as well as a thick red ribbon (five centimeters wide), matches or lighter, glue, pins, wooden or plastic chopsticks (two sushi chopsticks will do), hair bands, tape measure, pliers, plastic card. The ladybug costume consists of a wand, a skirt (if it's a girl) and wings.

Wings

First you need to make the wings. From the red mesh, folded in half, cut out a large circle (two pieces for two wings, diameter about 20 centimeters), sew it, turn it inside out. Now cut a piece of wire longer than the circumference of the wing and insert it into the wing. Fasten the remaining pieces on the outside of the two wings, that is, connect the wings (wrap all sharp edges with electrical tape). Tie an elastic band or black ribbon in the center of the connection (with its help the wings will be attached) and close the connection with a wide red ribbon. Sew pre-cut black spots onto the wings themselves.

Skirt

A New Year's Ladybug costume for a girl is unthinkable without a beautiful skirt. Take two pieces of mesh 20 centimeters wide and about 2 meters long and use a plastic card to make folds on each (fasten the folds with a pin). When everything is folded, stitch a red ribbon along the top edge on one piece of the mesh and black on the other. Connect the edges of each piece into a ring so that they are tied with a ribbon. Cover the bottom edge with ribbon or braid. As a result, you will get two. Put them on one another, sew on black circles.

Magic wand

The ladybug costume may well be complemented with such an unusual accessory that will grant wishes. Coat the stick with glue and wrap it with a red ribbon, decorate the top with ribbons and beads.
