Fashion legend Hubert de Givenchy Hubert Givenchy personal life
Yesterday, March 10, Hubert de Givenchy passed away. The famous couturier, founder of the fashion house of the same name, classic died in...
I would like to raise such an important topic: how to dye your hair with herbs. No, no, I won’t tell you now how to dilute basma with henna, etc. I will tell you about several ways to apply this mixture to your hair. These methods are suitable for applying both natural and chemical dyes.
Let's start with the fact that I decided to try my luck for the second time and dye my hair dark brown without a red tint. What is needed to paint?
First, a mixture of basma and henna (the dye you use to paint yourself). This time I mixed 5 parts basma and 1 part henna. My hair took about 150 grams of basma and 1 tbsp. spoon of henna. And this was a little not enough for me due to the fact that I have thick hair, and, naturally, I need more of the mixture
Here are the henna and basma that I use and am very pleased with:
Secondly, gloves. When I applied henna for the first time, I thought: “Oh, why do I need these gloves, it’s henna, gloves are uncomfortable!” I want to say that henna and basma perfectly color the skin, and it’s not for nothing that they make henna biotattoos on the body. That’s when my hands were colored with henna. I felt like an Indian with red hands for a week
Third, take a comb that you don't mind. I have an old wooden comb. The fact is that you can get your comb dirty while dyeing. For example, my comb handle turned dark
Fourthly, rubber bands.
I will repeat that I am the owner of thick hair, this is my big plus, but there are also small disadvantages. The downside is that I had a terrible time dyeing it. But I found a way - the most optimal one for myself. If you also find it difficult to color your hair, then this information will be especially useful for you!
I will list you several options on how you can dye your hair.
Option #1
Lower your head down (over the bath) and pour the entire mixture onto your hair.
This is definitely the fastest way to apply dye to your hair! But it is suitable for girls who have either short hair, or medium-length hair, or girls who have very thin hair. Then there is the option that the paint itself will be well distributed throughout the hair.
Option No. 2
Apply first to the roots of the hair, then to the entire length. This option is also convenient, but the fact is that it is also not suitable for everyone. If your hair is of normal thickness, you simply exhaust yourself with such a long dyeing process, and if you have long hair, it will take a very long time. Do not forget that dyeing with herbs and chemical dyes are two different things. If we can afford this with paint, then this will not work with henna and basma! Because the dye is chemical - it has a cream-like texture, it is easier to apply, and there is a chance that it will saturate each hair with its composition! And henna or basma is like sand.
Option #3
We divide the hair into 2 parts and color each part. As many people do: they just take one part and spread the mixture and that’s it. That is, not strand by strand, but simply that entire part of the hair in turn. That's what I tried. In general, this is not a very convenient option for me. In this case, not all the strands were colored. But this option is suitable for girls with short or medium length hair.
Option No. 4
Make a very liquid mixture and rinse your hair, but do not rinse it off. There are a lot of disadvantages to this option. All this paint will flow over your face and body, and will also drip. Never make liquid herb dye mixtures. I felt all the suffering myself.
Option #5
Well, the option I choose is detailed.
Before I start coloring, I divide my hair into 8 sections! With thick hair - this is the only way. And I tie each part so that it does not interfere with rubber bands.
After that, I take 1 strand and divide it into smaller strands. And after that I start painting. I don't use brushes. I paint it by hand. I feel so comfortable.
So I dye strand by strand. At the same time, do not forget, before dyeing the strand, comb it thoroughly. Firstly, it will make it easier to apply the paint. Secondly, you will not have tangled hair, and all hairs will be colored. Once I've dyed the strand, I wrap it back into a mini bun.
After you have dyed all the strands, you can either leave the mixture on your hair in the same 8 parts for an hour or two, or collect all the strands in 1 large bun. I find it more comfortable to collect it in 1 large bun.
After leaving the mixture for 1.5 hours, I rinse it off first with water, then wash my hair roots once with shampoo. I also use Forteffe mask for colored hair.
So here is the result of the hair immediately after dyeing in daylight, outside :)
The hair is very soft and flowing. Very pleased with the coloring.
Also, for 2 months I dyed my hair every 3-4 weeks with henna (recently with henna and basma). Hair Growth:
At the beginning of February, I cut the ends once. At the end of February I had my hair cleaned (cut with flagella). Now there are no split hairs. At least I don't see them
How do you like my results? Is hair growth and changes noticeable in 2 months (almost 2 months)?

Gray hair is not the most pleasant reflection of life experience. For many women, going gray means adding color to their beauty routine. And if you haven't experimented with appearance, then it’s time to try covering gray hair with henna and basma.
You can cover gray hair with henna and basmaHenna is a natural dye. It is produced from the leaves of Alkana or Lawsonia, which are native to India, Sudan, Syria, Egypt and North Africa. This is absolutely harmless paint.
Henna not only covers gray hair, it strengthens its roots and accelerates growthThis natural dye gives a red tint. If fiery colors are not your style, then henna does not mind being combined with other natural remedies. Brown shades will be given by an additional component such as coffee or cocoa. Basma will help you make your hair blue-black.
Henna comes in three forms: powder, pressed bar, or liquid in a bottle. To change your hair color, it is better to purchase dye in powder or tiles.
Basma is also a natural paint. It is produced from indigofera leaves.
In ancient times, ink and fabric paint were made from this natural material, and later they began to be used for cosmetic and medical purposes. The insidiousness of the dye is that basma paints gray hair in green and blue shades. Therefore, it is not used without additives.
Both natural dyes are suitable for covering gray hair.
The structure of gray hair is significantly different. It is more porous, voids are formed instead of pigment. Henna and basma penetrate deep into the hair and restore it, filling the empty space. Of course, like any other paint, they will wash out over time. But the main advantage of these natural remedies is that they can be used often. This will only make your hair richer and healthier.
Dyeing gray hair with henna and basma should be done with cautionIf you decide to paint with natural products, be prepared for the fact that you won’t be able to wash them off completely, and you won’t be able to paint over them with chemical paints either.
Coloring gray hair with henna and basma requires special attention.
If in chemical paints all components are contained in ready-made proportions, then the necessary proportions of natural products must be selected independentlyIn what ratios should I use dyes, and for how long should I leave them on my hair? This directly depends on the desired result.
Brown hair color with henna and basmaAdvice. To obtain a golden hue when brewing the mixture, you need to use a decoction of chamomile with lemon juice instead of plain water.
Advice. A beautiful chocolate shade can be given by adding ready mixture two teaspoons of natural ground coffee or cocoa.
Dark brown hair colorAdvice. If you add beet juice to the finished composition, the strands will become garnet-colored.
You won’t be able to achieve a deep dark color right away. Coloring gray hair with henna and basma should be done several times.
You should not use basma without additives - it will give gray hair a charming green tint. The owner of dark hair will turn under the influence of pure basma into Malvina with blue curls.
Natural paints do not tolerate metal utensils, so to prepare the coloring mixture you need to use containers made of glass, wood or ceramics.
When working with paint, be sure to use gloves. Otherwise, not only your head will be transformed, but also your hands. It is very difficult to wash it off.
The use of shampoo is not recommended for one day after the coloring procedure.
It is not recommended to use shampoo within 24 hours after coloring. All this time, the active components of natural dye continue to work on your hair, improving the shade.
An acidic environment will provide a more durable color, so the composition of the paint can be varied with a small amount of kefir, white wine or a drop of lemon.
There are several technologies for covering gray hair with henna and basma.
You can use paints separately or together in one compositionBefore applying paint to your entire head, try its effect on a separate strand. First, avoid an allergic reaction (even a natural remedy can trigger one). Secondly, you will understand how long to keep the paint on to obtain the desired result.
Basma is brewed with boiling water. Apply the mixture to the entire length of the hair. It is not necessary to use film and a towel. The drying time of the paint depends on the desired result. Shampoo is not used to rinse off.
Shampoo is not used to rinse offAdvice. Using a balm will make it easier to wash off the basma. The product should be applied for a few minutes and then removed with warm water.
Mix both ingredients with hot water (no more than 90 degrees). Apply the finished composition evenly to the hair from roots to ends. Treat gray areas first. Then build a turban from polyethylene and a towel. The holding time depends on the desired result. You need to wash off the paint from your head in the same way as in the first case. Natural dyes easily cope with gray hair.
Before and after henna stainingAn important condition is compliance with proportions and technology. You should not use a hair dryer for drying. Even when using natural dyes, preparation is important - the hair must be clean and dry. Balms and conditioners should not be used before the procedure. When using henna and basma you will not cause any harm.
You can ruin the mood by choosing the wrong proportions or additional components. Careful preparation and preliminary tests will save you from trouble, and in the end you will get healthy hair.

Choose the coloring method that suits you.
Any woman can easily change her hair color if she wishes. But even ammonia-free industrial hair dyes are not completely harmless. Therefore, in case of increased dry hair, dandruff and other scalp diseases, it is better to use hair dyeing with henna and basma, which are the most common natural dyes.
Previously, henna and basma were widely used in the Middle East, India and North America. But today, these natural dyes are also appreciated by European women, as they have a positive effect on the hair. In addition, it is not particularly difficult to use basma and henna at home, the rules of which we will tell you in detail. But first, let’s look at the difference between henna and basma.
Henna is a natural dye that is obtained from lawsonia leaves by drying and grinding them into powder. Fresh lawsonia leaf powder is yellowish-green in color, while old powder is red. Dyeing hair with henna involves using only fresh powder. It contains essential oils, tannins and many other useful elements that have a positive effect on hair.
Basma is a natural dye that is obtained from indigofera leaves, also by drying and grinding them into a gray-greenish powder. Also, another dye is obtained from this plant - indigo, a bright blue color, which is used to dye fabrics. Basma has a positive effect on the condition of hair: improves its structure, accelerates growth, fights dandruff, strengthens the root system, etc.
At the same time, henna can be used independently when dyeing hair at home, but basma without henna is not used, since in its pure form it dyes the hair a greenish-bluish tint. However, even when using henna in its pure form, it is impossible to achieve a specific color. The reddish tint will be more intense or weaker, depending on the original natural color hair.
To release the active substance of the red-yellow dye, you need to mix the powder with a moderately acidic liquid. This will make the color more saturated and stable. For example, you can mix henna or a mixture of henna and basma with lemon or orange juice, wine or vinegar, or slightly acidic herbal tea.
It is not recommended to mix natural dyes with yogurt and other fermented milk products, since the proteins in their composition absorb the color and interfere with the release of the dye from the powder. It is also worth bearing in mind that when you add coffee, the color will become darker, but your hair will smell bad, which can cause an unpleasant headache. Clove powder also enhances color, but often causes irritation.
If you don’t like the smell of henna or basma, you can add a spoonful of dry cardamom or ginger to the mixture so that your hair emits a delicious aroma. If your hair is damaged or dry, you can add 2 tbsp. olive oil. If you want to get a fiery orange color, then dilute henna with boiling water.
The mixture is diluted only in porcelain or glass containers!
How much powder do you need:
1 tablespoon – 7 grams of powder, ½ cup (240 grams) – 50 grams of powder.
The proportions of henna and basma are selected depending on the desired intensity of the shade.
The mixture prepared according to the chosen recipe must be covered with plastic wrap and left to sit overnight at room temperature. If the dye release process needs to be accelerated, place the mixture in a warm but not hot place. At a temperature of 33-37 degrees, the paint will be ready for use in 2 hours. All additives are added to the mixture immediately before coloring.
Before you start coloring with natural dyes, to find out what color you will get in the end, you need to do a test. To do this, you need to take a small strand of hair from the neck area, apply a little dye, wrap the curl with film and leave for 2-3 hours. Then you need to wash the strand, dry it, wait a few days for the color to settle and evaluate the result. If you are not satisfied with it, then experiment with proportions and additives.
If you are completely satisfied with the test result, then you can start coloring your hair at home:
Keep in mind! When dyeing gray hair, first you need to dye it with henna only, and then with a mixture of henna and basma.
Henna and basma are permanent dyes that do not disappear and are not washed off from the hair. At the same time, over time the color becomes darker, and with each subsequent coloring the hairs will have a more saturated color. After using natural dyes, you can use chemical paint, but the shade will be a little darker (with basma - greener) and will be washed off faster than usual.
Basma dyeing, as a rule, lasts for several months, but gradually acquires a red or blue-violet tint, therefore, in order to maintain the desired color and maintain the shine of the hair, it is necessary to do hair coloring in a timely manner. To renew the coloring, dilute 1 packet of henna or basma in 1 liter of hot water (the proportions can be changed). Carefully filter the solution, cool it and rinse your hair with it.
The harm of natural dyes manifests itself with very frequent use. Due to the content of acids and tannins in henna and basma, they greatly dry out the curls, make them lifeless and dull, and the hairs can begin to split and fall out. Hair oversaturated with these dyes becomes dry, dull and unruly, difficult to style, loses elasticity, becomes stiffer, and is difficult to add volume to.
It is also worth knowing that basma and henna cannot fully match the color of gray hair with the rest of the mass, especially during the first few dyeings. Compared to the rest of the curls, the gray strands look much lighter than the rest, acquiring a carrot tint. For the desired result, you will have to paint over gray hair several times so that the color is completely fixed and becomes uniform.
Thus, natural hair coloring with henna and basma at home is noticeably superior to the use of chemical dyes.
