Bolero is a "lightweight" jacket without a front, which has only sleeves and a short back. Bolero came into fashion a few years ago and still does not lose its relevance.
Any bolero can be knitted according to the pattern like a classic jacket, while rounding the shelves and making it a little shorter. However, there are several simple options for knitting a bolero without a pattern, which can be done both with knitting needles and crochet, or combine crochet and knitting. These models can be knitted quickly and even beginners in knitting will cope with them.

Option 1. Knitting a bolero from a square.
To do this, knit a square. Measure yourself from shoulder to shoulder along the back. This distance will be equal to the length of the side of the square. Tie a square of the sizes you need (for size 42-44, the side of the square will be 50 - 52 cm). Fold the square in half and sew along the sides from the edge to the center at a distance of about 10-12 cm, leaving slits for the arms, which are then tied around - sleeves are obtained. Shelves are made of any width by tying the edges of the stitched square in a circle for the required number of rows, as shown in the diagram.

Ready-made options for a bolero connected from a square:

Option 2. Knitting a bolero from a rectangle.
To do this, knit a rectangle, the length of which is two lengths of your sleeve, plus the width of the back from shoulder to shoulder. If you knit an even rectangle, you will get sleeves with wide cuffs; for a sleeve narrowed to the bottom, you need to knit the fabric according to the pattern. The sleeves are sewn to the shoulders, then the bolero is tied in a circle or semicircle (lower part) to the desired length. You can leave it without binding.

Ready-made boleros knitted from a rectangle:

Option 3. Bolero tied with raglan at the top.
This bolero is knitted like a regular one-piece raglan from the neckline, only without the front. Such a bolero fits the figure most perfectly, it can also be crocheted and knitted. Increases are made according to the rules of knitting raglan, the back can be knitted either in a semicircle, or close the loops simultaneously with the end of knitting raglan lines.

Ready-made boleros, knitted with one-piece raglan from the neck:

For those who are good at pattern knitting and are not looking for easy ways, I suggest Option 4.
In this version, the bolero is knitted from the bottom of the sleeve to the center of the back, after the sleeve, the back, shoulder and beveled front are knitted with a single piece of fabric. This variant of knitting a bolero is similar to knitting a bolero from a rectangle, the only difference is that the back and part of the shelf need to be tied to the rectangle. I wish you creative success!

Bolero is a short openwork blouse that protects from the hot sun or decorates. There are several ways to make them with a crochet hook.

Importance of Yarn Choice

Properly selected materials and tools greatly affect the quality and appearance of the finished product. (schemes can be dense or openwork), it can be warm and decorative.

Depending on the purpose of the product, a model and yarn are selected. For knitting warm products, both solid and openwork patterns are suitable. If the latter is chosen, mohair, woolen or angora thread with a thickness of 400 m / 100 grams can be used. The created ornament will be both functional and beautiful.

Of course, the warmest will be a solid canvas for and the description is selected individually for each product. It is not recommended to use too much (less than 200 m / 100 grams), as the resulting bolero will look too massive. Light summer products are traditionally knitted from cotton, linen or silk threads. Yarn with a content of these natural fibers (at least 50%) and polyamide, acrylic or microfiber will also be appropriate.

The simplest model Scheme and description

There is nothing easier than crocheting a flat strip and sewing it in a certain way to get a bolero. Thus, the product in the following photo was made.

The manufacturing process of this model consists of a simple sequence of actions:

Individual aspects of the process

The described algorithm is perfect for beginners. To simplify the process and quickly crochet a bolero (for beginners, you can choose the simplest patterns), below are a few graphic instructions.

The disadvantage of knitting a simple model in the described way can be called a slight asymmetry of the sleeves. On one of them the pattern goes up, on the other - down.

This problem can be solved by tying two identical parts and sewing them in the middle of the back. When making a seam, it is worth trying on the product several times so as not to get too tight an opening. Wearing a bolero that squeezes under your arms is very uncomfortable.

Classic bolero pattern

The classic boleros (hook) won the greatest popularity. A diagram and description of one of these products are proposed in this article. The classic model looks like a short, tight-fitting blouse without a fastener. Sometimes it is still present, but not for the entire length of the front shelf. It can be one button or ties.

In order (schemes can be used at your discretion), you must first take measurements, make calculations and build a pattern. Craftswomen, confident in their abilities, can do without the last point. But such negligence can result in a significant deviation from the planned size and the need for bandaging.

As for knitting a regular blouse, you should knit two details of the front, back and two sleeves. Mandatory for any bolero is a beautiful harness. It can be narrow (literally in a few rows) or wide - up to ten centimeters. In some models, openwork strapping plays the role of the main decorative element.

Bolero from fragments

Short boleros made in the technique of Irish or other stacked lace look very beautiful. The photo below shows a bolero made of large square fragments.

Such an openwork form of motifs makes it possible to significantly simplify the knitting of a bolero. You can sew it from three rectangles (back, two shelves). Holes in the canvas help it take shape without compromising the appearance of the product. It should be noted that when using a stiff thread (100% cotton) or a denser pattern for knitting motifs, it is worth trying to knit a traditional armhole and sleeve collar. Otherwise, the formed folds will significantly distort the silhouette.

How to connect part of the motive?

To get a fabric from fragments, the shape of which will correspond to the pattern, you can apply partial knitting. Unlike square fragments, their halves are knitted not in circular, but in return rows. This technique makes it possible to get a tight-fitting openwork bolero. Crochet patterns are pretty easy to master, a few suitable square motifs are listed below.

There are two ways to knit a half motif: making a rectangular or triangular element. The first knit is quite simple. It is necessary to work according to the scheme, expanding the canvas in two places and forming two right angles of 90 degrees (180 degrees in total).

The triangular element is a little more complicated. Here you need to monitor the correct expansion of the canvas. When knitting, one right angle is formed (90 degrees), and loops should be added at the very beginning and end of each row (2 x 45 degrees). The sum of the additions should make up the expansion of the canvas by 180 degrees. Using the described technique, you can even knit a quarter or even an eighth of a square.

Type-setting cloth for a bolero

Drawing up a typesetting canvas is the most difficult way to make a bolero (hook). The scheme and description of such models usually include diagrams of individual fragments and how they are connected. Motives for these types of clothing can be completely different. Most often used geometric figures or floral elements. Often, abstract asymmetric fragments are also used. To connect them, a pattern is required. The elements are laid out face down on it and a mesh is sewn or imposed between them. Despite this, the bolero can be safely called a universal piece of clothing. It is appropriate at work and leisure, so do not put off until tomorrow what you can knit today!

Bolero is a universal piece of modern wardrobe for both girls and women. Depending on the desire, preferences and necessity, a bolero can be dressy or casual, with a clasp or an opener, with or without a sleeve, winter or summer. In this article, we will consider several options for a knitted bolero. Models are universal, so they are suitable for both experienced needlewomen and beginner craftswomen.

Easy option

Let's start from the very easy way knitting bolero for women. The work is carried out with one canvas and with the help of only two seams. It knits easily and quickly. Well suited even for the first work of the craftswoman.

We need only two items: acrylic or wool yarn and knitting needles. The amount of material depends on the required size, usually about 2 skeins.

Let's get started. The bolero is made according to this pattern with one canvas. According to the measurements, the loops are added or reduced. The approximate size of the work is 42-46 - it depends on the selected needle size, yarn thickness and knitting density. The pattern can be easily adjusted according to your parameters: the narrow part of the pattern is set to 52 cm in size (pictured). The length of the bolero is 50 cm plus 22 cm, you can also add or subtract.

Work is carried out according to this knitting pattern.

After the part is ready, it should be sewn. Fold it in half so that the 22 cm parts match. They should be sewn from the wrong side. Bolero is ready!

Elegant openwork

Consider another version of the women's bolero. This time it will have an elegant festive look. The execution will be more difficult, but it is definitely worth it.

Necessary materials: yarn in the amount of 200 grams, knitting needles No. 3.5. These materials are indicated for the density of knitting for a square of 10 * 10 cm: 27 loops for 33 rows. Depending on the individual knitting density, more or less yarn may be needed. The calculation is indicated for 44 European size.

Let's start the master class. The product is knitted according to these schemes. We start by knitting the back. Scheme "A" in the photo is detailed, indicating the addition and decrease of loops.

When the first part is ready, let's start making the right and left shelves. The diagram is shown below.

According to this scheme, bolero sleeves are made.

Let's do the assembly. We sew the right and left shelves to the back, leaving room for the armhole. Then, sew on the sleeves.

Let's start tying. The layout and the strapping itself are indicated in paragraph No. 1. Bolero is ready!

Cross knit

This model looks very original and is a versatile piece of clothing.

The description is for size 40/42, but experienced craftswomen can easily adapt it to the desired measurements. The model consists of two parts. It is important to start work on the left side.

So, we need:

  • yarn with a thickness of 90 meters per 50 grams. Composition and seasonality can be adjusted as desired;
  • knitting needles 5 mm.

Let's start knitting. We cast on 87 loops + 2 edge loops (the number of loops must be a multiple of 17 + edge loops). Next, we knit according to the scheme, there should be 5 reports + edge loops.

When knitting reaches 15 cm, 51 loops should be added on both sides. This will be a continuation of the back and front. In total, 189 loops should come out in a row. Now we knit according to the same pattern, only there will be not 5 reports, but 11. Having knitted 31 cm after increasing the number of loops, double the middle loop and divide into 2 parts.

To complete the front of the bolero, continue the left 95 loops like this: edge loop, knitting, starting from the arrow with the letter “B”, according to the diagram in paragraph No. 1. Next 5 reports and edge loop. Last purl row you need to knit facial loops. Fasten the thread. The left side of the bolero is ready. Let's proceed to the execution of the right part of the bolero. We perform it in the same way as the description and diagram, only with a “mirror” image. When both parts are ready, spread them over the pattern and moisten with a spray bottle.

After complete drying of the blanks, we sew the parts. Shoulder seams are made with a mattress seam. The back, according to the photo, close with a few stitches in the corners. Bolero is ready.

In this article, we looked at several options for how to knit a bolero for different occasions and different seasonality. Models are ideal for beginners and inexperienced craftswomen. For those who are easily oriented in patterns and confidently master the art of knitting, we will provide several options for knitting women's boleros with knitting needles in patterns.
