Sometimes the most ordinary things can be used to make great home decorations! Who would have thought that you could easily make a beautiful fairy-tale flower from old burlap?! We'll tell you how to do this. Such a flower will come in handy: it can be hung on a Christmas tree, used on gift packaging instead of a bow, or given to friends as a souvenir.

For work we will need:

  • sackcloth;
  • liquid glue;
  • glitter;
  • wide brush;
  • socket;
  • beads, leaves for decoration.

Step 1

First of all, cut out the petals for the flower from a piece of burlap. You don't need a pattern for this - you can cut it by eye, making the petals slightly different in size. You should have approximately 10-15 pieces.

Step 2

Using a wide brush, coat each petal with glue. There is no need to save money - use more glue, otherwise the petals will not hold their shape.

Step 3

Apply glitter glue to the edges of each leaf. You can make it yourself by simply mixing clear glue and glitter in a small bowl. By the way, you can also use transparent nail polish with glitter instead, although you will need quite a lot of it - the more glitter there is on the flower, the better. A little glitter wouldn't hurt in the center of the petals - apply it with a few strokes.

Step 4

After the petals have dried, each of them needs to be slightly bent to form “boats”.

Step 5

Take the rosette and glue the first petal to it. Next, glue all the petals one by one in a circle. Make sure that all the petals are curved in one direction - not inward, but outward.

Step 6

Decorate the middle of the flower using beads, plastic twigs and the like.

New Year's decor made from rough materials on a natural basis is becoming increasingly popular. One of these is burlap. It is often used in needlework. It differs from ordinary material in its large weave. Burlap can also become the basis for a Christmas tree. So that you can easily make such a festive decor, the ZnayKak.ru website has prepared detailed instructions.

You will need:

  • wide burlap ribbon;
  • a cone made of cardboard or foam;
  • glue gun;
  • scissors, wooden star;
  • silver acrylic paint;
  • ink, silicone mat.

Progress of work on making a Christmas tree from burlap:

Step 1. The work surface must be covered with paper or use a silicone mat for this. Make a cone out of cardboard. You can also use ready-made foam shapes as a base.

The ribbon is required to be 5 cm wide. Since it will be folded in half along the strip, a narrower ribbon will not be able to create a frill. Start decorating at the base of the cone. To do this, wrap the ribbon around the mold and cut the required length. In this case, there is no need to add fabric to the allowances.

Step 2. There is no need to process burlap cuts. To make a frill, apply a layer of glue along one edge of the ribbon.

Before the glue hardens, roll the material lengthwise and press down. Hold the burlap as glue will seep through the threads.

You should end up with something like this.

Step 3. To secure the frill to the base, apply glue to the outside of the seam as shown in the picture.

Glue the first strip at the base of the figure around the circumference. In this case, the fold line should be located at the bottom.

Step 4. For the second row, measure the tape again, fold and glue over the first. Place the strips as close together as possible so that the cardboard is not visible. This way you will get a lush one.

Step 5. The closer you get to the top of the cone, the more folds you make in the strip of burlap.

Step 6. Decorate the top with fabric as well.

Step 7 When you have glued all the rows of ruffles, cut each one vertically. Make the distance between the cuts at least 2.5 cm.

Use sharp scissors for this.

Step 8 Paint the star with silver paint and age it with ink.

Step 9 Attach the decor to the top.

The length of the burlap strips is 10 cm for the bottom rows and 8-9 cm for the top rows of the Christmas tree

For the top of the Christmas tree, take a strip of burlap and fold it with a cross, like this:

At the end we decorate the Christmas tree with a shiny star toy.

Another Christmas tree made from strips, but they are glued in a different way: a long wide strip is cut out of burlap, which is then cut (see photos below)

To make the Christmas tree look sparkling, burlap is smeared with PVA glue or decoupage glue and sprinkled with glitter

In this version, a strip of burlap is folded. The Christmas tree is decorated with rhinestone ribbon.
