Our Con will be in life size. In the anime it looks like this:

- - - -

Here's what I got (clickable):

- - - -

We will need:
1. A fabric called fleece (Polartek will also work), approx. 50 cm x 80 cm yellow and 20 cm x 20 cm beige (I only had white).
2. A piece of brown fabric with a non-crumbling edge 20 cm x 30 see. For example, I had a fabric called “fleece raincoat.”
3. Small pieces of pink fleece (for ears and tongue), and white non-crumbling fabric (for claws).
4. Sintepon or other filling for soft toys.
5. Black acrylic outline (or acrylic paint) for the eyes and nose. You can take ready-made eyes and noses for soft toys, or glue pieces of black leather with instant glue.
6. Yellow and white threads, needles, scissors.
7. Chalk or soap for transferring patterns onto fabric.
8. A button with a diameter of about 3-4 cm.
9. Printer for printing patterns.

-
-

We cut out.
First, print these pictures in A4 size:

-
-
-
-
-
-

We cut out all the details from the printout and begin to transfer them to the fabric. We circle as many times as the number of pieces indicated. -

Trick: if you fold fleece or polartek in half with the fluffy side inward, the fabric will stretch less and it will be easier to trace the details with chalk.

First let's translate white details- that is, the lower parts of the upper and lower legs (round), the white part of the muzzle and the tongue.

Then we will translate mane on brown fabric. There is a small subtlety here - you need to create a whole mane from two halves. Like this:

-
-

Now let's make it from white fabric claws, and from pink- a tongue and small triangles for the ears (by eye).

- -

There are only yellow details.
One of them (central part of the body) translated in the same way as mane:

-
-

When will you translate head and ears- be careful! After all, the details of the head and ear are asymmetrical, which means we need to make the right and left halves. These halves are mirror images of each other.
How to make "right" and "left" parts? First, trace the pattern twice on one side, then turn it over to the other side and trace it two more times (we need four pieces each for the head and ears). Mark the “right” and “left” parts somehow so as not to get confused when sewing.

Here are all the yellow parts:

- -

Cut it out
Now you need to cut them out. cut out not exactly along the chalk, but a little further (about 0.5 cm). This is the seam allowance.
We cut out the outer part of the mane without any allowance. We also cut out the claws without allowance.

How to cut the mane:

- -

All cut parts:

-
-

Let's start sewing.
The safest way to sew soft toys is with a “back needle” seam (find out how - http://hand-made-gr-anary.narod.ru/Em_le-sson001.html), or on a sewing machine. Although some seams will have to be done by hand in any case.

Let's sew first paws. Fold them in pairs with the fluffy side inward and sew along the sides:

It turned out two upper paws and two lower ones:

- -

Now we need to sew into the wider end of each paw white circle and don’t forget at the same time claws.
Fold the white circle with the paw, fluffy sides inward. Sew 2 cm, starting from the side seam. Then insert the claws between the white and yellow parts, the tips of the claws inward, and continue sewing this sandwich until the very end of the circle.

-
-

Having stitched all four legs in this way, turn them out. It will turn out like this:

-
-

Let's move on to torso.
First, let's take the side of the carcass. You see, such a triangle is cut out from the bottom of the part. We sew its sides together. Kind of like a dart, yeah.
Next, we need to align the middle of the central part of the carcass with the middle of the side part of the carcass (just where we sewed the dart).

- -

We sew these parts together, starting from the middle.
We do the same on the other side of the central part. The result is something like a bag. We turn it inside out.

Tail! Fold the strip in half lengthwise and stitch it.
Now we need to unscrew this long thing, which is quite conveniently done with a pin. Pin a pin at one end and push it inside the piece. Pull the pin inside through the entire piece and pull it out the other side. Voila, inverted. Sew a small tassel of brown fabric on one end of the tail:

- -

And finally, the most difficult detail - head.
First, we sew the right and left halves together in twos. We stitch them along the less convex side.
Then we sew the “right” and “left” parts of the ears and turn them inside out.

Now let's make a rather complex sandwich. Look carefully at how it should look:

1. First, place one of the two resulting parts of the head, fluffy side up.
2. We place the mane on it with the teeth inward (!), so that the middle of the mane falls on the middle seam of the head.
3. Then we put the ears. They should be between the second and third clove from the center of the mane. (slightly different in the picture)
4. And the second part of the head completes the sandwich with the fluffy side down.

-
-

You can pin all the parts together before sewing. It is better to stitch from the middle so that it (the middle) does not move during the process. I usually only put in the ears when I get to the point where they are sewn in. Please note - the ears should be on one side of the mane!

Let's stuff it.
Most of the work is done - all that remains is to stuff the parts and sew them together.
Upper paws It’s better not to stuff until the very end so that they hang properly. (I was greedy, I stuffed it too tight)
The main thing is to distribute the stuffing well near the seams.

After the head, body and paws are stuffed, the holes in them must be sewn up.

-
-

Let's sew everything together!
Let's look at the picture:

clickable

-
-

Sew the paws, head and tail to the body.
Be careful - the “front” side of the head should be on the same side as the toenails.

Let's not forget about the face. First let's sew two halves language and turn the part out. Sew on top pink tongue detail.

- -

Terer sew on white part of the muzzle to the head. It's better to pin it down so it doesn't move. We start from the top and, reaching the bottom - sew in the tongue.
Before sewing the white part of the muzzle to the end, leave a small hole and stick a little bit there gaskets.

Sew on button. Sew on pink patches on your ears.

Hooray! All that remains is to make the face.

Let's draw.
Let's draw eyes and nose, or do them in any other way.
It's a good idea to paint light highlights on the eyes and nose. You can draw eyebrows, or you can not draw them.

Congratulations to you, and to myself too. The process was long and difficult.
Con is ready!

We bring to your attention a master class on how to make a charming plush toy of Totoro - the hero of the full-length anime “My Neighbor Totoro”, created by Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki in 1988.

Totoro, the guardian spirit of the forest, appears in the cartoon as a soft and fluffy good-natured man, a playmate and protector for those who protect nature and try to live in harmony with it.

Children's toys in the form of long-familiar cartoon characters delight children and often become their best friends.

To make it you will need:

  • felt in four colors (black, white, beige, gray)
  • pattern
  • sewing needles
  • thread/sewing machine
  • filler

Manufacturing process:

1. Redraw the pattern pieces of the required size onto cardboard, then transfer the pattern onto felt in the specified quantities.

2. Beige felt is the belly, white is the eyes, black is the nose and pupils, gray is the spots on the belly.

3. Carefully cut out the pattern pieces. Leave seam allowances when cutting out the body, legs, ears and tail.

4. Secure the tummy with sewing needles, stitch on the sewing part to the body. Hand sew the spots onto the tummy.

5. Sew the eyes to the body with white threads. Use black thread to sew on the nose and embroider a small mouth.

6. Sew the double parts (except for the body) together, leaving an opening to turn the parts inside out.

7. Turn the sewn blanks inside out and stuff them with filler.

8. Sew Totoro's body by pinning his ears. However, you can sew them on later, along with the paws and tail. Leave a hole in the lower part of the body for stuffing the toy.

9. Turn the body of the toy inside out and fill it with filler. Check Totoro's stability. If everything is in order, sew the stuffing hole closed with a blind stitch.

10. Sew the arms and tail of the toy with a hidden seam. Pay attention to the position of the tail: sew it slightly above the bottom seam and the toy will sit.

Totoro's original color is gray, but why not experiment and make colorful forest spirit friends.

Any children's online store is replete with a huge variety, but it is much more interesting to make toys for children yourself. The Totoro soft toy is so easy to make that you can make it even without any crafting skills.

It happens that some doll catches your eye very much - but for some reason you immediately understand that you won’t buy one for yourself. And it’s not even about money, you can earn it if you really want it - but for other reasons.
This is what happened to me too.

A couple of months ago a friend’s feed brought me this handsome guy:

I liked the guy so much that I even found and watched the series on which this doll was made - Code Geass. It turns out that last year he celebrated his tenth anniversary, and by this date Smart Doll announced a limited edition of character dolls, but so far only the first of the three promised has been released (the other two have only appeared at exhibitions and a couple of promotional photos).

It seems like what to expect, run and buy! But... this turned out to be just the case when buying a doll does not come down to a financial issue. Because:
a) this is last year’s limit, and by the time I found out about it, it was already hopelessly listed as Out of stock.
b) the mobility of dolls is very important to me, but smartdolls have limited mobility, especially in the knees (they bend only 90°, and this is the principled position of their manufacturer - Danny Chu believes that increasing mobility will harm the aesthetics of the joint). Although I really like this type of design - with an articulated skeleton - much more than a BJD.
and c) the point that turned out to be the most significant - size. Sold-outs are caught in the secondary, you can put up with limited mobility, but unfortunately, nothing can be done about the fact that 60 cm is completely not my format. I have the entire collection of 1/6 and 1/12, with the exception of one author 1/4, and this guy absolutely did not fit into my doll company.

And it would seem that I should continue to sit, contemplate pictures on the Internet and sigh. But hopelessness is not our choice :) And so the thought occurred to me: what if I try to assemble an analogue of this doll, but in a format more suitable for me?

Three companies make 1/6 dolls with this distinctly anime-like appearance: Volks, Obitsu/Parabox and Azone. But for maximum resemblance to the original, I need a head with inset eyes, so Azon immediately disappears (they have 1/6 heads only for decals), Volks, after some reflection, too (they only have one such head, and the mold is not at all what is needed ). What remains is obitsu. In addition, obitsa is the most affordable option; you don’t have to bother ordering it from Japan: there is an online store called Dolls Hobby, which regularly brings all this to Russia.
Of the heads presented on the store’s website, the Hansel mold seemed to me to be the closest to the design. It is there in three versions, two of them with painting, and one of the painting options is even close to what I want to get:

I have come across dolls made on this mold online, and the result seems quite close to what I wanted:

However, the store owner recommended that I take another mold, namely Kai, and correct the difference in the mouth line with makeup. Indeed, this mold has a more triangular face and a nose shape closer to the original:

I’m still leaning towards Hansel’s version, but I have some doubts. What do you think from the outside?

Apparently, I will have to order the wig and eyes somewhere separately, because there are neither purple eyes of the required size nor a wig of the required type on the site. There is just a short black wig, but I doubt that in this size it will be possible to style it properly, with such sharp strands: after all, synthetic hair is quite stiff. So I’ll try to look for a master who will undertake to do it on such a scale. Or maybe I’ll get around to making it myself - after all, learning how to make various puppets has been in my plans for a long time :)

Well, the last question is the body. And here I once again come across the eternal question “azon or obitsa”: obitsu is undoubtedly the leader in mobility, while azon is in aesthetics.

On the other hand, in my opinion, Obitsu’s body suits the character better: the shape of the azon seems too childish to me, and the character is already 18. But these weird hinges... however, I have a few ideas for modifications, but there are still more needs to be tested for feasibility.

I also came across a photo of Xinyi’s body next to Obitsu online. It is not inferior in mobility to the Obitsa, and does not look as robotic, so perhaps it makes sense to think about it (although it can only be found on Ali, and I have never ordered from there and I don’t even know how it’s done). What confuses me so far is that it is quite athletic, more than I need: the character the doll is based on is a completely unathletic guy with a “body subtraction” type of physique.

In general, obitsu has a beautiful 24 cm body - with a frame in a vinyl body, normal knees and generally similar to a person, and not a robot. But so far it is the only one of its kind, and besides, it is female. If someone had a similar man's 27-30 cm, there would be no question of choice at all! But you have to make do with what you have and hope that the situation will change over time. In the meantime, alas, neither Obitsa nor Azon can withstand comparison with the smartdoll’s own body, and my mini version will not be able to pose like this in an unbuttoned shirt:

However, this still does not diminish the desire to acquire it :)

By the end of the quarter, I decided to give my daughter a gift, a new phone, but she asked me to make an anime doll instead of a phone. Although she said that if the doll doesn’t work out, then a phone would be better :)))

To play with a polymer clay doll, it must be durable, without unnecessary decorations. The doll's arms and legs don't move, it's just a figurine.

I thought that it would be easier to make a doll entirely out of clay than the previous ones, but I was wrong :)

First I made the head and torso

Then legs and arms

Then I put everything together and began making clothes and stockings (I made the stockings using the decoupage technique)

The difficulty was that while you are doing one thing, what has already been put together breaks. I made the dress, my arms broke, my arms were made, my head was bent:(((in general, I suffered with this doll. In the end, I didn’t try to make it perfect, I left the best option.

I drew the eyes and applied varnish. Stockings have glitter polish on them :)

My daughter liked the doll, she won’t have to buy a phone :)))

We did a little photo shoot for our new doll.

These are sad anime girls waiting for a girlfriend :)

So she came and the fun began

This is a warm-up before the difficult work on a new doll :) One blogger on this site suggested that I make a doll based on one of the paintings by Brenock Adams, until I write which painting :))) I have already bought everything I need, in a week I will start working, I will definitely write a post with photo report!
